We got a rude surprise, that our website had been deleted by Crosswinds.net on May 1st, because they were no longer supporting free accounts. Emailed them to find out our options. We would have to upgrade for $11/year, but would lose our normal address of http://skyfun.crosswinds.net, and pop-ups, which I'd paid to remove, would come back. Only a Premium account at $84 a year would remedy these problems. We found this out only after we'd sent in our $11.

So we've decided to rebuild at another web host. The new address is: www.web.ms11.net/skyfun.

Discovered that our entire website had been lost by the technicians at Crosswinds.net, including all pages, photos, etc., when they had a power glitch while backing up files. You can see for yourself their pathetic explanation at Crosswinds.net/updates/ on September 24, 2001. So we began rebuilding our webpages and photos, a time consuming project. This is the second time they've lost our webfiles, as you can see from the entry on July 6, 2000. It's a "free" site (except for paying to get rid of the annoying pop-ups), so I guess you get what you pay for.

We've just gotten back from a winter trip to Southern California in our motorhome, where we spent most of our time at Lake Morena. This is east of San Diego near Horse Canyon, where we did most of our flying, and not too far from Blossom Valley and Torrey Pines, where we also got some flights.

This website was just built yesterday, and already we've thought of things to add and change to make it better. One was adding this page.

The web pages were created on free, bannerless pages, with unlimited space from Crosswinds.net. And they have a nice utility for uploading the pages and files without using FTP. I tried another webspace provider first, but gave up in frustration. These pages are being designed to be simple and fast loading, using thumbnails to call up larger photos.

Eventually, we'll be adding some photos from our trip to New Zealand in 1997. Yes, we took our gliders with us. But the pictures are somewhere else now.
