We're both active hang glider pilots, flying for many years. Ralph started hang gliding in 1977, and Julie started in 1988. We were introduced on a mountaintop by a mutual friend in 1996. Since then, we've been soaring together all the time, and we were married within four months. Hang gliding has become the central focus of our life together. We live to fly, and fly to live.
We both fly gliders from Wills Wing. Ralph's is an XC 142, and Julie's an XC 132.
For thousands of years, human beings have been looking up at the sky and dreaming of soaring like the hawks, gulls, and eagles, as well as the graceful buzzards. Finally, in just the last quarter of the twentieth century, we have gained the means to do just that. Hang gliding is the closest thing to soaring like a bird that mankind has yet achieved. We are finally able to live the fondest dreams of our ancestors.
